Last weekend Harvest was in overdrive, taking the opportunity to showcase the best of northern Tasmania’s food, beverage and artisan goods to the hordes of locals, interstate and international visitors in town for Mona Foma 2020.
To kick things off, AirMOFO guests were treated to a surprise Harvest Grazing Feast at Hangar 17 on arrival, where tables were overflowing with with freshly baked breads, hot smoked salmon, cheeses, cured meats, berries, cherries, and a range fresh fruits and vegetables generously supplied by our stallholders. This was followed by our usual Saturday Harvest Market attracting record crowds, and a one-off Sunday morning MOFO Harvest Brunch Market where those brave enough to pull a Faux Mo all-nighter could ease their hangover with a variety of delicious gourmet food options on offer. Thanks to everyone for supporting such a fantastic weekend and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
This week the celebrations continue with the Australia Day long weekend upon us. There are plenty of events happening in and around town, from Music in the Park to Skyfire10, but there is no better place to start than the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market. Fuel up with a mouth watering breakfast from one of our ready-to-eat stalls, before buying a basket full of gourmet treats for your Australia Day bbq or long Sunday lunch. Real Beef have a great selection of 100% Tasmanian grass-fed Angus beef quality cuts, from burgers to briskets, gourmet sausages, and premium dry-aged steaks for the discerning diners among us. Served with a freshly baked sourdough loaf from Sandy’s Sourdough or Apiece with a side of chutney, preserve or sauce from Taste of TamO’Shanter and you’ve got yourself an easy, finger licking Australia Day lunch to feed the masses.
We are excited to announce Harvest’s very first oyster stall – Bruny Island Seafoods – making an appearance this weekend and monthly thereafter. Harvested fresh from their southern Bruny Island farm, Steven will be serving these bad boys live, freshly shucked, or dressed in a variety of flavours. The ‘Fiery Virgin’ is sure to get you going, with tomato juice, tobasco, worcestershire sauce, lemon, salt and pepper. Or how about the Kilgarlic with Old Tom Cheese and Ashgrove Garlic Butter….a perfect date night entree to set the mood right.
See you at the market!
