Summer. An evocative word to be sure. Certainly, it brings about thoughts of an abundance of amazing produce, delicious meals and good, good times. Guess what? Harvest has all of these things for you, week in week out. With the build-up to summer and the party season reaching its glorious crescendo, we’re feverish with excitement to bring you our seasonal producers their feast of fabulous flavours.
First up this week though, we are super, super stoked to be able to confirm that we will be hosting our annual Christmas market! To be held in the twilight of Wednesday the 22nd of December, from 6.30 pm. It will be a licensed market, with our members plying you with delicious refreshments and our full complement of ready-to-eat stallholders available to soak up those refreshments 😉 . To be able to serve our community with good tidings and all the incredible things that our members have to offer for their Christmas celebrations brings us great joy, we hope it does likewise for you.
Righto, back to the delicious news of the week. A huge shout out and congratulations to Sandy’s Sourdough who took home two gongs from the 2021 Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards for their pear and honey frangipane tart and batard sourdough. New Norfolk Distillery also took home a win from the Australian Drink Easy Awards. Well done both! we love to see our members killing it this hard. We’re also extending a huge Harvest welcome back to Mike and Lauren from Feld’s Farm! It’s been a tough spring for many of our primary producers and we’re delighted to see Feld’s back in action after, as ever, putting in the hard yards to bring you new season spuds and spring vegetables.
But wait, there’s more! Ladies and gentlemen, for your gastronomic delight and culinary pleasure, we are proud to bring you the first berries of the season! 👏 🥳 Stuart from Bioberries is joining the party for his seasonal run. Strawberry fields baby! Lennon would approve. The beautiful peonies from Andrea at Heathermoor Peonies continue their seasonal run too.
We’re also pretty keen to keep the pressure on for your votes in the Community Achievement (People’s Choice) Awards and in the Great Regional Cities Challenge. With Launceston’s recent UNESCO recognition as a Creative City of Gastronomy, now is the perfect time for the projects we want to deliver to you, the community, through these programs. So please, get voting!
Speaking of musical references, this week for your listening pleasure on the SOMA stage we have the wonderful talents and good vibes of Elle and Nik, and the good-timey tunes from Willy Post. Yay!
