This week at the Harvest Launceston Community Farmers’ Market is you last chance to ensure your garden will be alive with the colour of Spring bulbs. Tas Daffodils bulbs will have some stunning peony root stock, oriental lily and canna lily bulbs and Donna always have the best advice on the where and how of planting them. If you cannot wait for your bulbs to bloom, Lilyfarm will be at the market for their fortnightly visit.
Plastic Free July gets underway this week and it is an opportunity to celebrate the good news from the Launceston City Council that plastic packaging is to be phased out of use at council events by 2022. Please remember to bring your own shopping bags.
Although Harvest coffee stalls are not yet accepting keep cups all the cups used by our coffee producers are compostable, including the lids as they are made from corn starch. All packaging used to serve food in at the market are compostable and can be put into our FOGO bins. FOGO is a wonderful composting rubbish collection service run by the Launceston City Council for local households.
We also see the return of some favourites, with One On The Slide, Smallgrain, Casa Paella, Wanderlust and Afghani Bolani back at the market. Take home a brekkie pie, bolani, slider or some warming laksa. Fortnightly stallholders Tasmanian Wasabi Products, Thirlstane Gardens and Red Cow Organics will also be there.
The weather is forecast to be partly cloudy with some frost and fog in the early morning.
